The 2017 Subaru Outback

There’s nothing else quite like the Subaru Outback on the market. It’s a midsize wagon with all wheel drive standard, and though it seems like an SUV or Crossover, it has more ground clearance than most SUVs with a nice low profile that makes it far easier to get into and to load and unload than an SUV or a Crossover.

Design

You might be surprised by the fact that the Subaru Outback SUV has a more spacious and comfortable cabin than those most of the compact SUVs in the segment. Along with that lower profile height it has good outward visibility, as is characteristic to Subaru.

In terms of passenger space, the Outback's cabin is similar to that of a midsize, meaning you get a more roomy and comfortable back seat than what's presented in others of the smaller SUV class. The overall interior quality and noise levels are superior with a nice range of soft-touch materials in frequently touched spots.

The 2017 Outback is enhanced with more up to date, user-friendly touchscreen interfaces which are available in either 6.2- or 7-inch sizes. The interface has been rated as one of the easier systems to use for the segment. The system comes with an abundance of features and smartphone-connectivity apps.

On the exterior, the 2017 the Subaru Outback offers unique roof rails that swing inward to form their own cross bars. It’s no longer necessary to remove and replace the cross bars and the lower height makes working with the roof rack much easier than a high profile SUV. The Outback offers an abundance of rugged versatility - with that additional ground clearance, 8.7 inches, as well as standard all-wheel drive and hill-descent control, the Outback can go places most small SUVs would never venture.

Its cargo area is large and well-shaped without obstructions, coming in at 73.3 cubic feet. Most of the trims come with a strong, quality rubber cargo tray standard. The Subaru Outback also includes many advanced safety features and a level of comfort and refinement amenable to long drives to reach the great outdoors!

Every Outback now comes standard with alloy wheels. The optional, well-regarded EyeSight Driver Assist Technology package is now enhanced with reverse automatic braking and automated high beam headlight control. A new, range-topping Outback Touring trim level debuts for 2017, featuring special interior and exterior trim.
